Courses Updates

This October half-term we have some of our most popular activities available as 2, 3 or 5 day camps. Children will be kept in small, consistent groups to create bubbles and social distancing, hand hygiene and sanitising of equipment will still be of utmost importance. There's still a fantastic mix of sports, arts and educational courses, so something to interest everyone!

Please email us at to book or if you have any questions.

At last, it’s the day we’ve all been waiting for, as we announce that Recre8 activities are back!

Our NEW Summer Camps timetable can be found here

The camps will run from 17th -21st August and 24th-28th August and combined with our Swim School Crash Courses, private swim lessons and 11+ online classes complete our range of sports, arts and educational courses for the summer.

Over the last 4 months we’ve been working hard to bring you a selection of activities that are fun and exciting, but which are also safe and clearly segregated from each other. To ensure the social bubble for each week-long camp is maintained, staff and students will remain consistent throughout the week. Whilst this means that we can’t accept bookings for just few days, we know that we’re packing each one full of so many fun activities that a week might not be long enough!

New, enhanced cleaning procedures are being undertaken, one-way systems are in use throughout the school and TSC, sanitising stations will be in place in each facility used and staff will begin all sessions with a safety briefing focusing on social distancing and hand hygiene. As always, our staff are fully qualified in their area and have undergone an enhanced DBS check.

We’re confident that we’ve found the right balance between maintaining your child’s safety and ensuring they still have an enjoyable experience with us here at Tonbridge School and we look forward to welcoming them back after what has definitely been far too long!

Please email us at to book or if you have any questions.

Our 11+ revision sessions and mock exams will be run electronically this year and both will take place via Zoom.

Revision sessions will run Monday-Thursday with login/registration at 8.45am for a prompt 9am start. Classes will consist of 2 hours of live tuition and will incorporate a short, interactive break. They will cover all areas of the 11+ assessment and include advice, tips and strategies, practice questions and explanations for each section and feedback for students and parents. Numbers are still limited to 12 children to a tutor to encourage interaction and so that each child receives the attention they require.

Revision sessions will run on the weeks of July 27th and August 3rd, 10th, 17th and 24th To allow for multiple bookings, there will be three different sets of materials.

Set A will be used for the weeks of July 27th and August 10th

Set B will be used for the weeks of August 3rd and 17th

Set C will be used for the week of August 24th

Each week costs £95

Mock Exams will still be timed in accordance with Kent Test rules giving a short break after the English and Maths paper (before the reasoning paper). You will receive a score at the end of the examination and more detailed feedback sent form our tutor in the following few days.

We have 2 mock exam tests available. Test A will be offered on Friday 31st July and Friday 14th August, with Test B available on Friday 7th August. Login/registration for each test will be at 8.45am for a prompt 9am start. You will be sent a unique ID to access the exam and will need to remain logged in to Zoom for the duration.

Each Mock Exam costs £45

For both the revision courses and the mock exam, full details and login information will be sent with your confirmation email.

Swim School Crash Courses

TSC will be re-opening on Saturday 25th July and we can now confirm that our Summer Swim School Crash Courses will run for 4 weeks in August.

We are able to offer small group lessons for Swim England stages 1-7 as well as private 1:1 and 2:1 lessons, but due to the limited amount of pool space available and the introduction of sanitising slots between sets of lessons, places are strictly limited and provided on a first come, first served basis.

For the complete Crash Course timetable, please click here

To aid us in keeping you, your children and all other customers as safe as possible, there are a few new procedures that we need you to adhere to.

  •          Please follow the one-way system and obey all Centre signage and staff instructions.
  •          Arrive as close to the start time of your lesson as possible.
  •          Shower your child immediately before arriving at TSC – showering at home will prevent bottlenecks in the changing rooms.
  •          Attend lessons ‘swim ready’ (with swim kit on under clothes), so that changing before lessons takes place on poolside rather than in the changing rooms

We also ask that you take account of the following:

  • Although changing rooms are available after lessons, to reduce the chance of bottlenecks and queues, if possible, please dry children thoroughly on poolside and take them home in a onesie (or other suitable garment) over the top of their swim kit.
  • Whilst we appreciate that you may need to bring along another child, as spectating space is reduced by social distancing requirements, it would be helpful if no more than one family member attended with the swimmer.
  • If you have your own float or noodle we would be very grateful if you can bring this with you. We are required to set-aside and treat our equipment for an hour after use and so customers bringing their own where possible, will mean a swifter turnaround between lessons.

For more information or to book a place, please call 01732 304123 or email The Recre8 office is currently open from 8am-5pm, from Monday to Friday. Whilst TSC Reception staff may be able to help you outside of these hours, we strongly recommend contacting us whilst the office is staffed or sending us an email.

Recre8 Summer Courses Cancellation - 26th June 2020

It is with great regret that we must announce the cancellation of the 2020 Recre8 summer holiday courses at Tonbridge School.

For the last three months we have been working tirelessly to keep abreast of Government guidance, leisure industry best practice, Department for Education regulations and national governing body plans for a return to sport, with the intention of providing a programme of courses which were both safe and fitted your needs.

We felt that, having planned for rigorous new safety procedures, one-way systems, sanitising regimes and social bubbles for each course, we had ensured the viability of the summer holiday programme. Whilst it wouldn't have been a normal summer programme, it would still have been one which gave your children a chance to play, learn, enjoy new experiences and make new friends.

Unfortunately, due to the reduced time-frame in which we now find ourselves working, the likely delay we will face before receiving further necessary guidance and the continued uncertainty this is causing you, our valued customers, we now feel that, with two exceptions, regrettably we must cancel our programme for summer 2020.

The exceptions are our 11+ revision sessions and mock exams which we still hope to run electronically and our Swim School crash courses, which we will endeavour to run if Tonbridge School Centre can open again August.

We hope you will accept our apologies for any inconvenience this causes you and understand that this isn't a decision we have taken lightly. It will, in fact, be the first time since the courses began in 1976 that we have been unable to run activities during the summer holidays. The disappointing fact is that, like many other providers, we have simply run out of time waiting for news of how and when restrictions will be eased further and don't feel it would be fair to you or our staff to delay our decision any longer.

As mentioned above, we are still working to provide an electronic 11+ revision and mock exam option this summer and hope to be able to release details very soon. We appreciate that for many children, the last few months of limited schooling may have affected their progress or dented their confidence and so, with the 11+ assessment still, at the time of writing, scheduled for September, hope that we can provide a service to help, despite the uncertainty.

The Recre8 office at TSC is now open from 8am to 5pm Monday to Friday. Please call 01732 304123 if you are a current customer requiring a refund. For all other queries, please email and one of the team will contact you as soon as possible.

We once again apologise for any disappointment our decision causes but hope to welcome you to a Recre8 course again in the future.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) TSC Closure

Following the UK Government announcement of Friday 20th March Tonbridge School Centre will be closed until further notice.

We would like to thank our Members and Centre visitors who have shown fantastic support to the TSC and Recre8 teams. We would also like to thank our staff for their hard work and positivity during this very difficult time.

We realise that shutting the facility will have a huge impact on our members and the local community, however it is the socially responsible course of action as we do our utmost to help in the fight against the spread of COVID-19.

We will aim to offer our TSC Leisure Club Members online classes so that our customers can keep active remotely (details will be supplied in due course).

During our time of closure, we will be freezing all Membership fees. Recre8 Easter courses can be refunded or places swapped to a summer holiday course. Payments made for Recre8 term time activities can remain as credit on your account for next term's courses or refunded if you would prefer. Please get in touch with us to discuss your options.

Over the past 12 years we have built an internationally recognised award-winning facility. A large part of this successes is down to our loyal Members, Recre8 customers, regular users and visitors. I would like to thank you all again for your support.

These are difficult times, however if we work together, we will come through them. I therefore look forward to personally welcoming you when we reopen.

Alex Lloyd – Tonbridge School Centre Manager
