Mock Exams (YR5)

These half-day sessions will give your child an excellent chance to practice all parts of the Kent test under exam conditions and allow you to judge your child’s current level and areas for improvement.

After the exam, our tutors will mark the papers and then give detailed written feedback about your child’s performance, with breakdowns of each section and cohort data for comparison. From this, you will be able to tell in which sections, or with which types of questions they have done well and where they might need to improve. Our feedback emails will also offer techniques and tips to help make improvements to the most commonly made mistakes.

Each Recre8 11+ mock exam will have different content so that if you wish to, you can book your child onto the early spring, Easter, summer term and summer holiday exam papers for additional practice and to see how their knowledge has developed over the intervening months.

Chelsea Crathern – 11+ Tutor

Chelsea has tutored on the Recre8 courses for more than 10 years, introducing our term time classes and mock exam days to complement the established holiday tutoring and revision courses each Easter and summer.

Chelsea’s aim for each session is to create an atmosphere in which children feel motivated to learn and which helps build their confidence throughout the year. Her incredible enthusiasm and energy make classes engaging and something to look forward to rather than to be endured and her understanding of individual needs and ability to relate to the children allows her to build a strong rapport with her students.

The progressive syllabus in place for the weekly sessions covers all elements of the Kent test and can act as a standalone course, be linked with our holiday courses and mock exams or be used in readiness for, or to reinforce 1:1 or parental tutoring.

Chelsea has tutored both my boys and has taken a lot of the stress of the 11+ away. I have always felt very confident in her ability, not only to teach them the skills to pass but also to give them confidence in themselves… My youngest generally leaves buzzing. Not what you’d expect after an hour of 11+ work! I highly recommend her as a tutor – Oscar’s Mum

Chelsea was a great and really fun teacher. She made learning and preparing for the 11+ enjoyable, which is quite an achievement! Chelsea made me feel calm, she was always helpful and always gave tips on how to make questions easier to do – George N.

Whilst preparing your child for the 11+ is important, it is crucial they are engaged and want to learn and Chelsea ensured this was always the case. Chelsea had an excellent rapport with my child and was able to make the whole experience fun and something to look forward to. Homework was set weekly but was not onerous and supported the learning of crucial elements of the 11+. I could see the progress my child had gained, both in terms of knowledge and confidence, over the course of the year, which made him calm and confident on the day. Both my children were taught by Chelsea and I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending her to anyone – George’s Mum.

I learned a lot from Chelsea’s lessons. She made us learn in a fun way. It really helped me do the best I could do. Thank you Chelsea – Ben S.

I know that my son, like his two siblings could not have been better prepared. Both the weekly sessions and revision days as well as the mock tests have allowed all three to feel confident in how to tackle the different areas of the test; develop exam techniques and most importantly have helped instil confidence in their own abilities. Chelsea’s ability to relate to the children, to encourage them and to develop their own self belief has, in my opinion, been of huge benefit regardless of the 11+ outcome. All three children felt that they would not have done as well if it hadn’t been for Chelsea. I cannot recommend her sessions more highly – Ben’s Mum.
